HCDE 518: iFocus Design Process Document

We created a design process document to reflect the process and decision-making that went into this project. With more time, we would have liked to make a few additional changes based on user feedback, continue iterating, and then begin the high-fidelity visual design phase. 

HCDE 518: iFocus Low-Fi Prototype & Testing

We built a low-fi paper prototype and conducted informal usability testing with five users. We gathered some insights for iteration, and spent the final week of the project making changes accordingly and elevating the fidelity of our prototype.

HCDE 518: iFocus Ideation and Sketching

Following our user research, we brainstormed various approaches and features to help serve our target users. We used affinity grouping to cluster ideas and align on three key design requirements for our low-fi prototype.

The next step in our process was to conduct some user research. Through surveys, interviews, rapid autoethnography, and activity analysis, our mixed-method approach to user research provided valuable insights. From our research, we created three user personas to guide our design decisions.

For the HCDE 518 class (Intro to Human Centered Design) at UW, we sped through the human-centered design process in 8 weeks. 

We started by developing a project declaration, defining our target users, and writing design and research questions.
